Welcome to Era III !
MedievilWars is a free MMORPG for 'the people' and practically created by 'the people'. Our vastly expanding forums mean that anyone and everyone can have their say in what they'd like to see in up-coming updates and expansions. This player’s guide was designed to get you up and running as quickly as possible. This isn’t a walk-thru; it is simply a guide to get you familiar with the game and to get you started. Discovering is part of the challenge of this game.
Note: Not all information can be found be following links in the wiki use the search to find things.
Basic concepts
Grow your town by constructing and upgrading buildings and by conducting research. Higher levels of building allow you to research new technologies, which in turn unlock new building levels. If you cannot build or upgrade a particular building, upgrade others and conduct research and eventually the new level will be unlocked. Your citizens produce gold through tax and resources by working in your buildings. Train and equip military, caravans and other units to defend your town, attack others or trade with friendly towns. Interact with other kingdoms through diplomacy to build relationships, which will enable you to grow even more.
Signing Up and Registering
When registering to play, you'll have to decide what race you want to play:
- Saxons – The Saxons have a long history of being besieged by various barbarians and enemies. To protect their lands in Germania, they built strings of walls and defensive fortifications. All Saxons begin with level 1 Wood Gathering technology, and a level 1 Lumber Mill. All Saxons start in Germania.
- Vikings – These Scandinavians are fearsome warriors. Known for their bloodlust and their military might, they begin with level 1 Training Grounds technology and level 1 Barracks. All Vikings start in Scandinavia.
- Normans – Many master architects and builders call France home. This allows all Normans to start with level 1 Fortification technology and a level 1 Wall protecting their kingdom. All Normans start in France.
- Britons – Throughout the ages, Britain has been a multi-cultural nation. The British have taken advantage of this cultural and traditional knowledge and as a result start with level 1 Town Ordinance technology and level 1 Town Hall. All Britons start in Britain.

I'm stuck, what do I do next?
Provided you have the gold and resources there will always be one research or one building which you can complete. Work out which building or technology you want to get next and look at the requirements. If it's just resources you are short of then make sure your peasants are working in the right building to make the resource you need. If it's gold you're short of reduce the number of peasants gathering resources and your tax income will go up.
If you need to get the next level of a building you will need either resources or a particular technology. A missing technology will be mentioned on the building's page. Go to Architecture Research to find this technology and its requirements, e.g. other technologies and buildings. Keep working backwards in technology and buildings until you work out which technology to research or which building to build in order to move your forwards.
If you're really stuck then build anything you can and research everything you can (except weapons and armor) and eventually you will unlock something important. Make sure you've got enough storage to hold the resources you need to build the next building! In the early stages the Lumber Mill and Clay Pit are important to unlock new technologies - so build them up and see what becomes available.
